SNMP Tools - monitoring software
Before you download and install a SNMP Tools, you must install and configure necessary
services and software. Make sure you have administrative rights before installing
any software.
Windows 7
To install required features go to:
Start / Control Panel / Programs / Turn Windows Features on or off:
Make sure following items are selected:
Internet Information Services / Web Management Tools (including sub items)
Internet Information Services / World Wide Web Services (including sub items)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 (including sub items)
Simple Network Managementt Protocol (SNMP)
Configure SNMP access rights:
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services / SNMP Service / Properties
/ Security /
1) Accepted community names / Add / Community rights = READ ONLY; Community
name = public
2) Accept SNMP packets from these hosts - add localhostif it is not there
Download and install SQL Server
Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
Install using default settings.
2005 is much easier to install but 2008 can also be used.
NB! After reinstalling or updating the tool AppPool Identity
needs to be changed. For this reason it might be better to leave automatic updates
off for now.
Ater installing or updating make following changes:
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Internet Information Services (IIS)
Manager
Navigate to Aoolication Pools
Select SNMPTools
Click Advanced Settings
Change Identity to NetworkService (default is AppPoolIdentity)
